Three Random Things I Want to Tell You | fox chapel, pa newborn photographer
Sometimes I just have a bunch of random little life updates bouncing around in my head, and instead of trying to force them into one neat, themed post… I figured I’d just tell you all three. No transitions, no big setup—just three things I’ve been wanting to share.
Lately, my editing style has been shifting more toward a film-inspired look—soft, timeless, and just a little nostalgic. I’m loving the way it feels more natural and true to the moment while still being beautiful and polished. You can see a few of those examples below!
When it comes to what I’m photographing, my focus hasn’t really changed since 2022—I’m still all about babies, birth, and families. Those are the stories that make my heart light up, and they’re what I do best. This year has been full of sweet newborns, powerful birth stories, and family sessions that feel like a warm hug.
And can I just say… I really, really want to photograph more newborns. I mean, they’re tiny, squishy, and sleepy—what’s not to love? Those first few weeks are such a blur for parents, and I love freezing those sweet details so you can look back and actually remember them.
We’ve officially started our homeschool year, and my oldest is now in first grade. This is our first year officially reporting to the state, so it feels like a big deal. I’ve got our curriculum in place, a loose plan for the year, and a whole lot of excitement.
One thing I’m looking for: field trip ideas! If you’ve homeschooled, or just done fun educational outings with your kids, I’d love to hear what your favorites have been. Bonus points if they’re in or near Pittsburgh. I want to fill our year with experiences that make learning fun for all of us!
Okay, maybe not literally saving my sanity, but close. Comedy has been such a gift to me lately. I’ve been listening to and watching comedians like John Crist and Nate Bargatze—both of whom somehow manage to be hilarious without being crass (and both of whom have great podcasts). They’re clever, relatable, and the kind of humor you can watch without cringing if your kids wander into the room.
And then there’s the Amy Poehler podcast, which feels like sitting down with a really funny friend who just gets it. I’ve realized how much I need laughter woven into my days, especially with the mix of running a business, homeschooling, and, you know… managing a household of three small boys plus the dog. It’s a reminder not to take myself too seriously and to find joy in these little moments little moments.
So that’s what’s been on my mind lately—business changes I’m excited about, the start of a new homeschool year, and the pure gift of laughter. I’d love to hear from you, too!
Drop a comment below or send me a message! I love connecting with you and hearing your ideas—it’s what keeps this whole thing feeling like a conversation instead of me just talking to the internet.
