Why My Prices Have Gone Up (and What You’re Really Paying For) | pittsburgh birth doula and photographer

Let’s talk about the awkward thing for a second: money.

If you’ve been following me for a while or worked with me in the past, you may have noticed that my prices have gone up recently. I want to be totally transparent about why—and more importantly, what you’re actually investing in when you hire me.

Because here’s the thing: it’s not just about photos or doula care. It’s about the whole experience.

1. I’ve grown—on purpose.

Over the last few years, I’ve poured time, training, and heart into becoming the kind of photographer and doula who can hold space well. I’m certified through Pain Free Birth [CD(PFB)], I’ve supported families through beautiful, holy, and sometimes hard births. I’ve learned how to show up calmly, read a room, pivot on a dime, and create images that make people cry in the best way.

That growth? It came with investment on my end too—so I could serve you better.

2. This work is personal.

When you hire me, you’re not just booking a time slot. You’re asking me to be on call 24/7 around your due date, ready to drop everything the minute your baby decides they’re coming. You’re inviting me into one of the most vulnerable, powerful, and sacred moments of your life.

I don’t take that lightly. I love this work. But it also means I have to build in margin and space so I can be present, grounded, and fully there for you—not just logistically, but emotionally too.

3. You’re not just getting photos. You’re getting peace of mind.

This is especially true for birth, but honestly? It applies to all of my sessions.

You’re not just paying for images—you’re paying for someone who:
– Knows how to gently guide without pressure
– Has backup gear (and backup people, who get paid just for being available) and plans and snacks and tissues.
– Will notice when you need a breather or a boost.
– Can deliver edited, heartfelt images that help you remember how this season feels

I’ve worked hard to create an experience that feels calm, supportive, and effortless for you—so you don’t have to overthink outfits, lighting, or your toddler’s snack meltdown mid-session. It’s all covered.

4. I value your time, so I’m valuing mine too.

I want to model what I encourage for my clients: rest, boundaries, intention. This means charging rates that allow me to serve fewer families more deeply—with energy, creativity, and real presence.

So while the numbers on my pricing page may have changed, my heart hasn’t. I’m still here to cheer you on, pray for you, and help you remember these wild, beautiful, fleeting seasons of motherhood.

And if you ever have questions about pricing or payment plans? I’m just an email away.

Thanks for sticking around. Thanks for trusting me. And thank you for seeing the value in what I do. It means the world. 🤍 Contact me if you’d like to book a session or if you have questions!
