I get it. You're already spending a lot of money on your child. Between prenatal care and delivery expenses and carseats/cribs/clothes etc. you have a lot on your plate.
Having someone present to photograph your birth was probably the last thing on your mind. Now that you're here, let me tell you why you should invest in a birth photographer.
1. Welcoming your children into the world are the best, happiest moments of your life. Literally nothing tops the feeling of holding your baby for the first time after growing them for months. These moments are more special to me than anything. I still tear up thinking about them. Hire someone to capture those moments to cherish for forever.
2. Seeing yourself holding your baby (and honestly the whole birth story from start to finish) will be some of your most precious possessions. It's one thing to experience it. It's another thing to see it and remember all over again.
This is no problem at all! I really truly believe that the birth of your baby should go as you want it - YOU, the mama, are in the driver's seat. I can absolutely either not capture any nudity or adjust my position (such as staying above your shoulders assuming the birth space allows for it) to eliminate or minimize waist down nudity. Each gallery is password protected and I will NEVER ever post anything without your consent! At each birth I've attended, I've only seen very minimal nudity, and as a 3x mom myself, literally nothing phases me. Just ask me about the time I pooped in the tub - LOL!
When you hire me as your birth photographer, I am on call for you starting at 37 weeks until your baby is born. I also attend your birth from active labor (usually when you're around 5-6cm dilation) until 2-3 hours after your baby is born. This can sometimes last 12+ or even up to 24 hours! I also take time to carefully and thoughtfully each edit, delivering the full gallery within three business days of your birth.
Yes! You can dictate however you want to do payments. Here's how it works:
1. Fill out the contact form below.
2. I will get in touch with you - we'll chat about your due date, what # kid this is, how your previous births went (if applicable), your vision and plans for labor/delivery, and your support team. Once we decide to work together, I will send you a link for a non-refundable deposit ($250), a short questionnaire, and sign my contract. Once you have that link, you can revisit that link at anytime to make payments. If you would like to do small payments of $50-$100 at a time that's great! The only requirement is that payment must be paid in full before any images are released.
Total due is $1,249 + PA 7 % Sales Tax = $1,336.43.
Homegirl, you're giving birth! This is completely up to you! Some moms get sweaty and prefer to be butt-naked. Some moms want to be covered and will wear a comfy shirt and leggings or sweatpants. Some moms wear a nice robe paired with a nursing bra and bottoms, others wear a hospital gown. It's totally up to you! I'd shy away from graphic tees and bright colors so as not to distract from the rest of the photo but hey, you do you.
Each birth can vary so much and it really depends on how long I'm there, different laboring positions, etc. I've had births where I've walked in the door and the mama delivered her baby 20 minutes later and other births where mama was laboring for a long time and eventually had to get a C-section. Photo count can range anywhere from 60-200.
It has happened before - and almost happened a second time - due to the sweet mamas having such fast labors! I always ask mamas to allow for two hours for me to arrive. I have three small children at home and a husband who works a full time 9-5 job, so it takes a little bit to arrange childcare or wait for my husband to get home. Communication is crucial in those last days lading up to labor and delivery so that I know what's going on and can (hopefully) leave at a moment's notice.
In the event that I still don't arrive in time for the birth, I will offer a complimentary newborn session, and still capture those fresh postpartum snuggles. Refunds are unfortunately not offered.
Likely, you'll hardly notice that I'm there. I try to be stealthy and only use flash if absolutely necessary. When I gave birth to my third son, at some point I realized it was no longer only my husband, doula, and photographer in the room and asked how many people were in there (I was in a tub with my back to the room). I don't even remember what the answer is, but hopefully that will give an idea as to how when a mom is in labor - she's focused on herself and her baby and not really the room around her.
