Pittsburgh Studio Maternity Session: Kiah

I have always hated studio sessions.

I hated everything about them. The look. The lack of variety. Pretty much every time I looked at a studio session I didn’t like it. Then I started seeing more and more and slowly, my mind started to change. Towards the end of the year I bought a backdrop stand and a white backdrop. After enlisting the help of my husband and oldest son, I took some test pictures.

I hated them so, so much.

I couldn’t figure out how to make the background white, not grey. They looked like they were floating in space. I edited until my eyes started to cross.

So I stuffed the backdrop and the stand into the back of my closet and didn’t think about it for months.

Then I heard about Savage backdrops.

They have seamless paper backdrops in all different colors and as I saw more and more pictures of other photographers using these in their studio, I fell in love with the look more and more. I visited Savage’s website and ordered two different colors – egg nog and pecan.

Once the backdrops were delivered to my house, I posted a model call in the Pittsburgh Moms Facebook group asking for a model to test out some studio backdrops. That’s when I heard from sweet Kiah, who is expecting her second baby boy at the end of July. I felt like she would be an amazing fit and she agreed to model for me – yay! She even brought her boyfriend and her son along for pictures.

As soon as I started snapping photos, I knew I was going to like how these pictures turned out so much more than my disastrous first attempt with my husband and son. In fact, you could say that I’m obsessed with them.

I love that I can offer studio sessions to clients now! It’s a really good option in the approximate six months of the year that is either raining or snowing here in Pittsburgh.

What’s even better than how much I love these images is how much Kiah loves her images. She has never had professional pictures done before, but you would never know that just by looking at these. She was a natural in front of the camera and her testimony was just the sweetest:

“This was truly one of the most magical moments in my life and I get to cherish it forever.” – Kiah

WOW WOW WOW. Thank you, Kiah!!!

Safe to say that I’m pretty obsessed with studio sessions now.

Enjoy the sweetest studio maternity session!
